The Archelon is a prehistoric sea turtle animated by stop-motion legend Ray Harryhausen. It made its first and only appearance in the 1966 prehistoric fantasy One Million Years B.C.
Overview[]
The Archelon attacked the exiled and exhausted Rock tribe warrior Tumak, but was driven into the ocean by the timely intervention of Loana and warriors from the Shell tribe.
Trivia[]
- During its first encounter Loana shouts out "Archelon!" This is the only intelligible word her character utters in the entire film.
