Eohippus is a distant relative to modern horses, now extinct [1]. Jim O'Connolly's 1969 film The Valley of Gwangi featured an animated version of the little creature, brought to life with the visual effects of legendary animator Ray Harryhausen [2].
The Valley of Gwangi[]
When a local circus came into possession of a living Eohippus specimen, which they nickname El Diablo, a British palaeontologist identifies the species, beginning a search for the existence of other prehistoric animals. Setting El Diablo free, they follow it back to its home in the Forbidden Valley, sparking an adventure involving several extinct creatures and resulting in the deaths of many.
