goddess of marriage and childbirth and takes special care of married women. Hera appeared in two of Ray Harryhausen's films, Jason and the Argonauts (1963) and Clash of the Titans (1981).
Hera's marriage was founded in strife with Zeus and continued in strife. Zeus courted her unsuccesfully. He then turned to trickery, changing himself into disheveled cuckoo. As Hera picked up the bird, Zeus then resumed his normal form and taking advantage of the suprise he gained, raped her. She then married him to cover her shame.
