Scorpiochs were large magically-created arthropods that were featured in the 1981 film Clash of The Titans .
Description[]
These giant scorpions, which closely resemble the prehistoric scorpion Plumonoscorpius, were large around 12 feet long, although Plumonoscorpius was 28 inches long. They hunted in packs, and hunted and killed their prey with their pincers and venomous stingers. Like many monsters in Greek Mythology, the Scorpiochs were spawned from the blood of the Gorgon Medusa, and were extremely agressive and hard to kill.
History[]
In Clash of The Titans, Calibos, son of Thetis, used the blood of Medusa's head to spawn three Scorpiochs to kill Perseus, Thallo, and another soldier. They were woken just in time by their friend Bubo, the golden owl. The three Scorpiochs killed Perseus' fellow soldier, but Perseus was able to kill two of them (one of them which killed the unidentified soldier) and Thallo killed the third before Calibos killed him. Afterwards, Perseus killed Calibos.
Trivia[]
Scorpiochs were famous in Greek Mythology; Orion, the hunter, was in fact killed by a giant scorpion sent by the gods.
