Tyrannosaurus rex was a large theropod dinosaur that inhabited Western North America during the Late Cretaceous. The Tyrannosaurus was popular in films from the 1940s to 1970s, before its new more accurate physical appearance in Jurassic Park (1993).

Description[]

After its discovery in Hell Creek, Montana (1902), the appearance of Tyrannosaurus was always changing as new theories were being introduced. The most popular theory during the time was Tyrannosaurus stood upward with his tail dragging on the ground, like a kangaroo. By the 1970s scientists found this to be incorrect, but stuck with it until the 1990s. Then in early twenty first century, Tyrannosaurus was thought to be covered in feathers; however being a non avian theropod, it was thought to be more like a cold blooded reptile, rather than a bird. Also, until recently Tyrannosaurus was thought to have its nostrils higher on its snout, like that of an eagle. This form was even included in Jurassic Park. Now it has been proven to have its nostrils closer to its mouth, making it similar to the Tyrannosaur of stop-motion.

Diet[]

Despite a brief controversy over whether Tyrannosaurus was a hunter or a scavenger, partially healed bite marks in Triceratops fossils leave no debate that this animal was an active hunter, preying on very large herbivores.

History[]

The Animal World[]

In the first 1 minute in the prehistoric sequence, a Tyrannosaurus was the first fossil seen.

Later on, the prehistoric sequence, a Triceratops felt the T-Rex's presence, as the ceratopsian heard its roars, the Tyrannosaurus made its presence, and the dinosaurs were engaged in a confrontation, before the confrontation could start, a volcano erupts, forcing the two dinosaurs to escape, as both Tyrannosaurus and Triceratops were fleeing from the volcano, the Tyrannosaurus began pushing the Triceratops while running before finally moving out of the way.

The Tyrannosaurus ran right to a gap, where an earth shake was rumbling under it, the T-Rex could only helplessly scream as the ground began shaking, before the gap finally cracked open, sending the hapless dinosaur falling to its doom, where magma pours right in the T-Rex, burning it alive and killing it.
